Creative Local Radio Quilt Project

Local BBC Radio in England celebrates its 50th Anniversary in November this year.

Young Quilters in Orpington were visited by BBC radio on  March 11th

Almost all the children in both the morning and the afternoon session were interviewed by Sara Parker.  They were very excited when they were asked to bring items that they had made over the years to show Sara.

Get Creative Local Radio Quilt Project

“Local Radio Quilt: Sewing Communities Together”

Local BBC Radio in England celebrates its 50th Anniversary in November this year and TheQuilters’Guild has been asked to help mark the occasion by supporting the making of a quilt approximately one metre square for each of the forty radio stations. These will then be put together into a giant BBC Local Radio Quilt to be unveiled on television in November. It will go on display in Broadcasting House and be exhibited at FoQ in 2019.

The project will be initiated during the Get Creative Weekend of 7–9 April. Each radio station will ask listeners to make a square representing something in their area, reflecting both historic and modern aspects.
