Orpington May Workshop
Two sessions were held for this workshop during which the children made snakes and ladder mats. They enjoyed writing the numbers and actions in the squares and tried to make it as hard as possible to win! Due to time constraints the backs of the mats were made for the children.
The star cushion cover was made over a four month period. See our gallery below.
We had 30 children on Saturday over the two sessions. We also had almost a one to one with helpers. The hall was buzzing. What a busy day!!!
Waterproof bags were made with wellies on one side and an umbrella on the other side, all appliquéd. Well done everyone.

Our Christmas fun day - Saturday 5th December at St Johns Reformed Church, Orpington.
We had 25 children and 11 helpers. There were four tables of crafts going on. Christmas cards, fabric crayoning, Snowman and Father Christmas and marbling. Each table had 2 helpers and every child had a go at all the tables. The marbling will be made into a post card at the February workshop and the children discussed what they could make out of the fabric crayoning. Lunch was provided and we played games in the afternoon. Each child went home with a party bag. In all a very good day was had by all.
A big thanks to all the helpers and too the children for taking part, what would we do without them.
My daughter Madeleine belongs to the Orpington Young Quilters group, and I just wanted to let you know how impressed we are with the group. Mags and Carol go above and beyond to ensure that each class runs smoothly, and to make all the children feel confident in their sewing. On Saturday they arranged a Christmas party for the children, and it was so much fun. They were so generous with providing gifts for the children, a great lunch, planning party games and fun craft activities throughout the day.We are very lucky to have these lovely ladies and their helpers to run such a successful group.Kind regards Cherylyn Morris
Even with most of our YQs on holiday, we still managed to have a few children make themselves an apron.
Check out our gallery for pictures - Issabella, worked completely on her own and made an apron for her cousin.
This month's Orpington workshop was full of 'fishy fun'. Check out our gallery of pictures.
