9 Patch Cushion

Material required

3 ½” squares- Cut 5 in Patterned fabric, 4 in plain

9 ½ “ x 2 ½ “ cut 2 for border

13 ½" x 2 ½ “ cut 2 for border

18 ½ “ x 13 ½ “ for back

35cm (14”) cushion pad

Method

1. Using a scant ¼ “ seam join two squares together, one patterned one plain. Check ithe rectangle measures 6 ½ “ if not adjust your seam allowance.

ACCURACY IS IMPORTANT.

Press the seam allowance towards the plain square

2. Join squares into three sets of three, two with a patterned square each end, one with plain.

3. Join these three rows together 

4. Join the two 9 ½ “strips to top and bottom, then add the 13 ½ “ strips to the sides.

5. Cut the back piece in half to give two rectangles 9 ½ “ x 13 ½ . Iron a narrow hem on each piece and sew in place.

6. Overlap pieces to make a 13½ “ square, place right sides together with Cushion front and stitch all round.

7. Clip corners and turn through.

8. Insert cushion pad and ADMIRE!!
