Audrey Esarey from Cotton and Bourbon – Finding My Voice in Modern Quilting

This event takes place on 4th December 2021 from 4:30pm to 7:00pm and will take place at Zoom. It is a Guild event being organised by Jan Allston, .

Audrey Esarey comes from Kentucky and, being known for liking the occasional glass of bourbon, goes under the online brand name of Cotton & Bourbon.  Learning to sew literally on her mother’s knee, Audrey practiced many crafts before she eventually came to quilting in 2005.

Spending many years learning technical skills and making traditional quilt patterns, in 2018 she set herself a goal of exhibiting in an original quilt show and started developing her own style.  Today her work is based on precision piecing, curved piecing, use of high contrast fabrics and colour gradation.

Audrey’s lecture focuses on her path to becoming a modern quilter and how she applies traditional techniques in her modern quilts.  She’ll discuss the progression of her work and show her Radial and Watercolour Quilts along with some others thrown in.  We’ll also learn about her design inspiration, favourite artists and hear stories of some lows and highs along Audrey’s journey.
