Lecture by Judi Kirk ‘ What is Modern Quilting’

Wed. 10th March 10.15 a.m.

This will last about an hour followed by a Q and A session. It is open to non – members of GQ and Quilters Guild. The charge will be £5.

Judy is a well-established international patchwork quilter who gives lectures and workshops.  She enjoys all kinds of patchwork and quilting but particularly loves the bold designs of modern quilts. She is a member of both the Modern section of the Quilters Guild of the British Isles, and the US-based international Modern Quilt Guild.  She is a qualified quilt judge and serves on the Quilters Guild judging committee. She has judged at various international quilt shows and last year she organised the judging for the Festival of Quilts first virtual show, which had over 650 entries from around the world.

Judy’s talk to Guildford Quilters in March is entitled ‘What Makes it Modern?’  Using examples, and her unique insight to the topic, she defines what makes a quilt “Modern”,  and how it differs from other quilt styles.  Judy reckons that many of us will realise we’ve been “quilting modern” without knowing it!
