This event takes place on 12th February 2022 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm and will take place at Zoom. It is a Guild event being organised by Jan Allston, .
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Sheila Frampton Cooper exhibited a strong artistic temperament from a young age. After living in Italy, France and Belgium, she returned to the States to embark on a creative path. After years of oil, acrylic and watercolour painting, jewellery making and architectural photography, Sheila made the leap to her current passion, studio art quilts. Her passion for surface design is played out painting with thickened dyes and improvisational quilting. Her inspiration is widely drawn from the natural world to bustling towns.
Her award winning work has been exhibited internationally, including at Festival of Quilts in August 2021.
Sheila’s lecture, “Spontaneous Creation and Inspiration” delves deeply into her process. She’ll discuss colour, inspiration and the various approaches she engages when making her quilts. In addition to her own work, she will share a variety of student work as well as that from other artists, discussing what she feels makes a piece successful.
