National Quilt Championships 2018
Jan Allston was at Sandown Park Racecourse and reported that although it was quiet on Friday, the visitors arrived by the coachload on Saturday and Sunday.
Several prize winners were from Region 2 and the displays of the exhibition quilts was particularly good with several of Jacquie Harvey’s wonderful hand quilting examples on show.
A new category for beginners, called Director’s Choice, were all judged by Roger Cooling and a prize awarded to the winner. One of these quilts was made by Region 2’s Daphne Brett and it looked amazing.
The overall winning quilt was made by Lynda Jackson from South Yorkshire (see image)
Raffle tickets were on sale on the Guild stand with a chance of winning a sewing machine or a beautiful quilt when the draw is made at Hever Castle on 2nd September. Jan and Margaret Everett managed to persuade several people to consider joining the guild and two people signed up at the stand.
Jan's full report will be published in Two's Company later in the year.
